Nationals living in, or intending to travel to, the northern and western border regions of Macedonia should exercise caution. Sporadic acts of violence do still occur in Macedonia, particularly in the north, but also including Skopje. However, most visits to Macedonia are trouble-free. International Airports Skopje (SKP) (website: www.airports.com.mk) is 25km (16 miles) from the city. Taxis are available to the city centre (travel time – 25 to 30 minutes). Airport facilities include duty-free shop, bar and restaurant, bank/bureau de change, baggage facilities, post office and car hire (Avis and Hertz). There is also an airport at Ohrid. Departure tax: None. Back to Top Air Travel The national airline is Macedonian Airlines – MAT (IN). Other airlines serving Skopje are Adria Airways, Austrian Airlines, Croatia Airlines and KLM. Connections are available to Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. Approximate flight times: From Skopje to London is approximately four hours. There are no regularly scheduled domestic flights - however, there are occasional flights between Ohrid and Skopje.
